Your HIAF needs you

HIAF is directed by an elected & voluntary Executive Committee (EC), which comprises a Chair & other officers elected by the membership.

We are now seeking new members to join the EC & make their voice heard.

The ever-changing nature of our industry means HIAF is always on the lookout for enthusiastic & dynamic people to help drive forward our agenda & to keep HIAF meaningful to our members.

You do not have to specialise in a role but can contribute more informally to the running of HIAF by offering ideas, suggestions & attending occasional meetings. Much of our correspondence with one another is conducted via email & conveniently fits into our daily work: indeed, all of the Executive works voluntarily with the support & encouragement  of our employing organisations.

If you are interested or think you can make a contribution, please send your details to any member of the current Executive.

We've added more topics to our next event

As well as the new GDPR regulations that we highlighted in our last news update, our next seminar will also look at the new anti-money laundering regulations which came into force on 26 June 2017

Reserve your place now at our free members’ seminar in London on 22 September.

How does this affect me?

The Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017 (MLR 2017) implements the EU’s 4th Directive on Money Laundering.

The regulations build on the current regulatory framework although there are some specific, and potentially significant, changes that you need to be aware of. A key difference is that organisations are now obliged to adopt a more risk-based approach towards anti-money laundering, in particular in how they conduct due diligence. Determining the appropriate level of due diligence requires analysis of risk factors based on the EU Directive and which are set out in MLR 2017.

Our event in September will help familiarise you with this new legislation to help you determine what action your organisation needs to take.

Other topics & speakers will be announced over the coming weeks but don’t delay in booking your place now for what promises to be an incredibly informative day.

General Data Protection Regulation - Are you prepared? Free members seminar & HIAF AGM Date: 22 September 2017 Location: Guinness Partnership, 30 Brock Street, London
Reserve your place now at our free members’ seminar in London on 22 September.  The day will take you through the legislative provisions of this new regulation before it comes into force in May next year. What does GDPR mean for you?
All UK organisations that process the personal data of EU residents have only a short time to ensure that they are compliant.

Introduced to keep pace with the modern digital landscape, the GDPR is more extensive in scope and application than the current Data Protection Act (DPA). The regulation will extend the data rights of individuals, and requires organisations to develop clear policies and procedures to protect personal data, and adopt appropriate technical and organisational measures. This special event will inform and guide you through what your organisation needs to do in readiness for this far-reaching legislation.
Timings & speakers are to be confirmed but more details will be sent to you as the event firms up. Our thanks to The Guinness Partnership for kindly agreeing to host this key even
